Is tumblr Worth the Effort?

Since my first tentative dip into the "blogosphere" I've been running across this tumblr service(?).

I've found some interesting content, but being a Luddite of sorts, I've haven't quite got the hang of the place. It seems far more complex than blogger.com. I've signed-up and created a second version of The Bohemian Prospect there. Is it worth the effort?
